About Me

Luke Rechichi is a versatile emerging creative based in Boorloo/Perth focused on meta and allegorical, surreal storytelling practices. With developing expertise in screenwriting, cinematography and lighting, he aims to build a filmography which navigates between the comedic and light-hearted, with work of which is melancholic and deeply resonant.

As an forthcoming graduate of Curtin University with a B/Arts double major in Screen Arts and Journalism, he has experience across a diverse range of short film, documentary, corporate and music video, with an interest in pursuing feature film, television series and commercial as a director of photography or gaffer. Additionally, Luke is passionate about both the stories and the people at the heart of filmmaking, evident in his continued short form writing. 

In 2026, Luke was the Director of Photography on Swallowing Soap (short film) where he has gained valuable experience, refining his theoretical understanding and developing his process and practice across broader cinema technology. In the same year, he started working as a Technical Assistant in the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University providing new experience in running a motion picture equipment store and strengthening his technical and logistical coordination skill set. 

Luke brings valuable journalistic experience to screen arts practices through his studies which makes him an effective communicator and informs his approach to creative collaboration. In 2024, he was contracted weekly over three months by the Fremantle Dockers Media team to conduct and capture post-match interviews and write match reports articles, expanding his creative horizon. 

In 2027, Luke hopes to begin garnering interest on the production of Pull the wool over my eyes, a short film he wrote three years prior. In 1971, Fergus, a small boy living in Australia’s rural south-west, spends his days intently watching the sheep in his father’s paddock. His love of the animals is only strengthened by his Dad’s work in an abattoir and when Fergus’ dad, George, becomes fed up with him, sending him away, Fergus devises a plan to save the his favourite sheep from the blade of his father. 

A moving tale of family, the perceived cost of emotional vulnerability, what constitutes safety, what is love and how we begins to form these ideas as a child, captures the heart of what Luke Rechichi is trying to achieve through his filmmaking journey.
